Walzem Elementary Career Day

Mrs. Alamo City, Lucy, and I inspired elementary school children with motivational stories about our education, careers, and Titles! I presented to 5 classes of kids. They had so many great questions. I even wore my college cap and gown so they could get a visual of what it will look like when they achieve their goals. The first class even had time to write and share their goals and special moments that demonstrate their ability to BE GREAT! We talked about famous alums of the Boys & Girls Clubs like Denzel Washington and Shaquille O'Neal. The kids learned that you can be anything you want to be and came up with phrases like... Be Kind, Be Respectful, Be a Good Student. To learn more about the Be Great campaign, visit www.begreatamerica.org

Happy Mother's Day 2009

We spent the morning volunteering at Meals on Wheels. We passed out flowers, cards, and goodies handmade by local Girl Scouts to volunteers delivering meals to homebound elderly citizens. Thank you to all our special Moms!

Jen- Miss Hemisphere City and Lucy- Mrs. Alamo City (contestants in the upcoming Miss San Antonio pageant) were both on hand to volunteer. Thanks also to Lucy's husband and their baby girl for getting involved.

Dan, a dedicated CSS board member, brought his boys out to volunteer.

My awesome little helpers! Thanks, girls.

Teens from the Eastside and Teen Center Branches of the Boys & Girls Clubs of San Antonio delivered over 2 dozen meals!
