VIVA FIESTA- Texas Cavaliers River Parade 2009

San Antonio Fighting Back invited me to ride on their Texas Cavaliers River Parade float.

Our float theme was "Native Americans," so I, and friends from AIT and the StMU Native American Student Association, dressed in full native regalia to celebrate our culture with the city!

It was such a great time-- people showered us with glow jewelry, cascarones, roses, beads, and even a tortilla!

Viva Fiesta - Celebrations of Traditions Pow Wow

At the 2009 Fiesta Celebrations of Traditions Pow Wow, sponsored by United San Antonio Pow Wow which is headed by Erwin DeLuna, we shared the traditions of our rich native culture.

Tom, from Maine, a Fiesta military ambassador, danced to the drum as my two-step dance partner.

I was able to catch up with friends from the St. Mary's University Native American Student Association and other friends from the pow wow circle.

Mike is an amazing fancy dancer.

Charles Barrett, president of the Fiesta Commission, spared a few moments for a photo.
